Weaving

Yes I am still working on my sweater. I almost have one sleeve done. I think it might be next fall before I get it done. In the mean time, I have been trying my hand at other yarn crafts. A long time ago, I bought a rigid heddle loom. Then as happens sometimes, I never used it. I bought a basic class on Craftsy (if you haven’t heard of or used Craftsy, you should click the link).

First, I learned how to direct warp my loom. This was challenging as my loom did not come with a warping peg. In a pinch, we used a paper towel holder on a chair in my dining room. 2015-04-20 12.37.09

My husband should not be allowed to take pictures of me. Here I am warping away. I always tend to over warp. At least I know it will be long enough.

Then I had to thread it through the heddle. As you can see wine was involved on a few of these projects. In the upper picture, you can see the very first scarf I ever finished. I didn’t calculated correctly and it is rather short. (I learned to pay attention to the worksheets that came with my Craftsy class). This one is made out of the leftover warp and scrap yarn laying around.

I also learned how to do a twisted fringe. I have always liked the look, but I was never able to figure it out.

This is what is on my loom now.

I’m planning on a series of placemats all with the same color scheme, but a different plaid.

I can’t wait to finish them. All in all, it takes a bit of time to finish a project, but I can stop and come back to it.

I need to get back to crocheting. I have some ideas for new amigurumis.
